Tropical Storm Bertha continues to weaken

said Tropical Storm Bertha weakened a little more after being downgraded early Tuesday morning.

At 10 a.m., it was located at 34.8 North and 71.9 West, or about 445 miles west-northwest of Bermuda. Maximum sustained winds were down to 60 mph and it was still moving north-northeast at 22 mph.

Bertha is expected to turn toward the northeast and and east-northeast while picking up even more forward speed later in the day and Wednesday. The storm is forecast to continue weakening over the next two days.

Forecasters said swells generated by Bertha will affect parts of the coasts of South Carolina and North Carolina. They are likely to cause dangerous surf and rip currents.
