PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators said a man was killed when he drove off the road and his truck slammed into a tree late Thursday night.
Louisiana State Police reported Winsley St. Pierre Jr., 64, of Plaquemine, crashed on LA 75 south of LA 3066 (Bayou Road) near Plaquemine around 11:30 p.m.
Tpr. Jared Sandifer with LSP said the initial investigation showed St. Pierre was headed south on LA 75 in a 1992 Ford F-150, when the truck veered off the road in a curve and hit a tree.
Troopers said St. Pierre was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. Investigators said they don’t know if he was impaired.
As they do with all deadly crashes on Louisiana highways, troopers collected a sample of St. Pierre’s blood and sent it to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for a toxicology analysis.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
