BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A middle school administrator accused of inappropriate relations with a teenage girl was released from jail on bond Wednesday.
Edwin Chastang, vice principal of Southeast Middle School in Baton Rouge, was released on a $20,000 bond. He is charged with computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, Chastang exchanged nude photos and sexual messages with a 15-year-old student through Facebook. Authorities said it was the eighth grader's mother who alerted them about the situation.
"We're glad that the mother was actually paying attention to things," said Cpl. L'Jean McKneely with BRPD. "We ask that parents do pay attention to what their kids are doing, because they're using this technology - Twitter, Facebook and all these different various sites - and making contact with predators."
Keith Bromery, the spokesman for the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, said Chastang in on paid suspension, but that could change depending on the outcome of the investigation.
