NEWTON, IA (KCCI/CBS) - Living on your own and walking to your 100th birthday party is amazing, but even wilder is celebrating with a friend who also just turned 100.

Dorothy Pickett and Florence Koppin have been friends for more than 70 years, but they don't feel their age.

"I didn't stay at home," Pickett said with a laugh. "I went as much as I could."

Both say they still make a point of staying active.

"I've always worked hard, picked corn and all that kind of stuff," Koppin said.

Pickett said she tries to cycle at least four or five days a week.

They agree there's power in coffee time with friends and laughing.

"I laugh all the time," Koppin said.

But neither was focused on healthy eating, and getting good rest wasn't always a priority.

So why are the girls born in 1914 still active in 2014?

"I don't think there's anything special that I did," Pickett said. "I just lived a normal life."
