BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Repairs are being made at the Elm Grove Garden apartments after 9News Investigators uncovered nasty problems there.
The report which aired July 17 showed an apartment complex crawling with roaches and potential safety hazards. The report also showed that many of the units had a pest problem, mold, mildew, busted pipes as well as exposed wires and broken balconies.
It was so bad the federal government stepped in and ordered the owners to make repairs immediately. Some tenants say they are starting to notice a difference.
"They are making improvements," says Latasha White. "They replaced the doors and fixed the open wiring."
HUD is giving the owners until Thursday to repair all the items that were listed as emergency health and safety violations or they could be in jeopardy of losing their contract.
