Man charged with attempted murder after ramming vehicle, causing crash

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man has been arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder after being accused of punching a woman in the face and ramming the vehicle she was in while driving down the road.

It happened on July 5 just before midnight. According to records from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, 26-year-old Elisah Norman allegedly walked up to a vehicle with a man and a woman sitting inside and began to punch the woman in the face.

Reports say Norman told the woman "I am going to kill you and the [expletive] you're with." A 14-year-old girl, related to the woman in the vehicle, was standing outside of the car when Norman began punching the woman. The man inside the vehicle rolled up the window and drove off.

Reports say Norman got into his SUV and began following the man and woman, ramming their vehicle multiple times, eventually causing both vehicles to overturn after hitting separate telephone poles. The reports also say Norman allegedly got out of the wrecked vehicle and started walking towards the man and woman. The man and woman got out of their wrecked vehicle and hid in the bushes. They told deputies Norman kept yelling that he was going to kill them.

Norman allegedly left the scene as people started to stop to see if they needed any help after the crashes.

The victims didn't have any serious injuries but the vehicles had severe damage.

Norman was arrested Thursday and is being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a $100,000 bond.
