LOCKPORT, LA (WAFB) -

A man faces a DWI charge and a traffic violation after crashing into an apartment complex Monday night, according to authorities.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Corey Hood, 33, of Thibodaux, was charged with DWI (first offense) and reckless driving with accident. The wreck happened at City Place Townhomes in Lockport around 9:15 p.m.

Sheriff Craig Webre said Hood was taken to the hospital after the accident because of a possible head injury and was released after being checked by doctors. He added a woman and her teenage son was in the apartment unit that was hit, but they were not injured in the accident. He said the impact of the crash put a hole in the wall that went through to the inside of the apartment.

Investigators said Hood was taken to the Criminal Operations Center in Lockport for questioning after being released from the hospital. They reported he admitted to drinking and driving. They added he performed poorly on a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer test indicated his blood alcohol content was 0.143 percent. The legal limit in Louisiana is 0.08 percent.

The investigation continues into the crash.
