Federal judge who oversaw Baton Rouge's desegregation dies

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge-born federal judge who oversaw the desegregation of East Baton Rouge Schools died this week.

U.S. District Judge John Parker handled many other cases in his life, but the long-running, fiery desegregation of public schools became the hallmark of his career. Judge John Parker was 85 years old.
