Driver faces DWI and other charges after wrong-way crash

HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) -

A man suspected of being drunk when he drove the wrong way on the interstate and was involved in a head-on collision Monday night is now charged with DWI and other offenses.

Louisiana State Police reported Christopher Rosamond, 44, caused the wreck on I-55 near Hammond around 11:30 p.m. He faces the following charges:

DWI (second offense)

Traveling wrong way

Vehicular negligent injuring

Failure to transfer title

Troopers said Rosamond was headed southbound in a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder in the northbound lanes of I-55 when his SUV collided with a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 19-year-old man. His name was not released.

Officials said both drivers were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. According to reports, Rosamond is currently undergoing medical treatment and will be booked when he's released from the hospital.
