BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Firefighters found a body in a house they believe was intentionally set on fire Monday morning. Police say the victim's body was partially burned and had a single gunshot wound.

The fire started just after 6 a.m. on Eaton Street near Choctaw Drive.

Mark Miles with BRFD reported firefighters found a body in the front bedroom of the house. The body has been identified as 35-year-old Laross Davis. He was the only person living at the house at the time. He also said only one person lived in the home.

Before the fire, a next door neighbor says she found it strange that Davis did not park his truck in its usual spot.  She says the truck then disappeared.

"They had took his truck and, I forget the street they said it's on, but they found it.  Set it to fire too," said Clara Myles.

Investigators say Davis' pickup truck was found a few blocks away at a house on Linden. The truck had also been set on fire.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the fire is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
