Wow, what a gift and an excellent example of corporate citizenship.

BHP Billiton, an international energy company, donated almost $11 million to the Shreveport YMCA this month. The money will be used to help build a brand new YMCA complex near Clyde Fant Parkway. Actually, next door to BHP headquarters.

Along with a competition swimming pool, soccer and baseball fields will be built and a nature trail.

So why is BHP donating all this money?

It's part of being a good corporate citizen and giving back to the community where its employees live and work.

Well done.

I'm James Smith.

State Police Supt. Col. Mike Edmonson needs to address this inexcusable behavior directly and restore the public's confidence. He should be fully transparent in his investigation into the matter and should invite an outside entity to look into the matter.
