METAIRIE, LA (WAFB) - The man who allegedly killed his live-in girlfriend and took his three children is now in police custody.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said Pedro Alberto Monterroso-Navas, who is also known as Wilson Rigoberto Mena, 43, was arrested in Texas early Monday morning.
Col. John Fortunato with JPSO reported Monterroso-Navas was captured at a trailer park in Katy, Texas. He added Navas' three children were with him and are fine. Their ages are 12, 4 and 2.
According to investigators, one of the children had a phone conversation with a friend in Katy and that child’s mother contacted authorities, which led to the arrest.
Monterroso-Navas will be charged with second-degree murder in the death of his 25-year-old girlfriend. Her name was not released. She was found dead early Sunday morning at an apartment in Metairie. Reports indicate she had been stabbed.
JPSO added Monterroso-Navas is in the US illegally.
