BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Traffic officials announced Friday that the flashing signal at a Baton Rouge intersection has been turned off due to safety concerns.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) said it has deactivated the flashing lights at the intersection of East Boyd Drive and Burbank Drive.

Officials explained drivers expressed concerns about the congestion and safety issues related to some drivers stopping at the flashing yellow light on Burbank.

They added the removal of the flashing light will improve traffic flow and eliminate the backups caused by the flashing caution light.
