Houma man accused of abusing 94-year-old mother

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

A Houma man was arrested Tuesday for abusing his 94-year-old mother, according to Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter.

Gordon Himel, 61, was booked with simple battery of the infirm.

The sheriff's office received a complaint from a family member of the victim who reported that Himel, who lives with the victim on Alex Street, physically mistreated and hit her during the previous night. The victim received minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

Himel was jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex awaiting bond.
