ST. JAMES PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Investigators said more time is needed to determine how a 12-year-old girl died, as they await the coroner's official report on the exact cause of death.
The body of Talaija Dorsey was found over the weekend at the edge of a sugar cane field in Vacherie. She went missing on July 1 in St. James Parish.
Sheriff Willy Martin said John Celestine, 42, is considered a suspect in connection with the girl's disappearance. Celestine is the fiancé of Dorsey's mother.
Celestine remains held on charges of obstruction of justice and false reports.
The sheriff added the investigation is far from over.
