LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - State Police say a young man was killed in a single vehicle crash early Sunday morning. The crash happened around 1:30 am on LA Hwy 16, just south of LA Hwy 1028 in Livingston Parish.
Cameron Bordelon, 22, was traveling northbound on LA Hwy 16 when for unknown reasons his vehicle began to drift off the road towards the raised center median. He overcorrected to the right and the vehicle left the roadway, overturned and hit a tree. After hitting the tree the vehicle continued rolling down an embankment into a canal.
Bordelon was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle, he sustained fatal injuries. A 16-yr-old front seat passenger was wearing a seat belt and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
It is unknown whether Bordelon was impaired at the time but investigators do believe that excessive speed was a factor in the crash. Toxicology samples have been submitted for analysis.
