WALKER, LA (WAFB) - A celebration of the Red, White, and Blue is well underway in the city of Walker. People are celebrating America at the ball park complex with the traditional hot dogs, amusement park-style rides, and games.
There’s even a few rounds of softball underway on the baseball diamond. Local leaders team with the Livingston Parish Veterans Association to put on the annual cook out and party in the park.
“I think it just goes to show that people still have a patriotic spirit in this area,” says Mayor of Walker. “The city of Walker has been doing its best to promote our veterans. WWII re-enactment, 4th of july and Vets parade in November.”
A ceremony recognizing veterans was also held. The fun ends with a spectacular fireworks display at 9 p.m.
