18-wheeler fire causes major backups

GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

An 18-wheeler caught fire on I-10 West at LA 30 in Gonzales on Thursday and caused major headaches for drivers trying to start their holiday weekend.

Both lanes were closed around 4:30 p.m. and reopened around 5:15 p.m.

However, the traffic backup caused by the accident reached LA 22 in Sorrento at one point.

It is unknown if there were any injuries or what caused the big rig to catch fire.
