CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The 4th of July is tomorrow and many Cincinnati's are heading out of town for the holiday.

AAA says more than 35 million people are hitting the road…about 2 million of those people are Ohioans who are driving.

According to Gas Buddy, prices in the Tri-State range from $3.99 in Columbia-Tusculum to $3.52 in Elmwood Place.

Nationally the average price of gas is $3.67 for a  gallon of regular. This is the highest since 2008.

Cincinnati is the most expensive in terms of gas in the entire state of Ohio and Covington is the most expensive in Kentucky.

"Gas prices in Cincinnati tend to be higher in the state because we use a reformulated fuel..it's more environmentally friendly, but on the other side of that..it's more expensive," says AAA official Cheryl Parker.

According to AAA, it doesn't look like gas prices are drastically affecting peoples decisions since travel is up by 2 percent.
