PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

Ascension Parish Sheriff's Deputies are searching for a woman who is accused of stealing a wallet at Jen and Ellas Boutique in Prairieville last Tuesday.

Deputies were called to the boutique located at 37436 Ultima Plaza Blvd. in Prairieville on June 24.

Reports say the victim says a woman came into the store and at the same time, two other females walked in and distracted the employee.

The employee says her purse was left behind the counter where the first suspect was looking at jewelry. When the employee returned to the counter, the suspect left abruptly saying she needed to go get her purse but never returned.

After the suspect left the store, the employee checked her purse and noticed that her wallet was missing. A video surveillance was captured and the female suspect was seen reaching behind the counter and pulling what appeared to be a black wallet from behind the counter. The victim was advised by her bank that two transactions had already occurred on her account.

The female is described as a stocky black female and she was wearing a tank top.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or by texting 847411 to our anonymous tip line from any cellular device or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).
