BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The community in the Gardere Lane area held its second town hall meeting of the year. Concerns were community safety, more lighting, and sidewalks.
The Gardere Initiative brings together leaders from law enforcement, churches, and organizations across the community and city.
"The Gardere area is actually on the up rise. The citizens, even in the midst of a rain storm, came out. I'm just so excited. It's a blessing and I believe that our efforts in the Gardere Initiative and other people, all the entities and agencies - it's a pay off," said Caulette Jackson Guillard, president of the Gardere Initiative.
These meetings are held four times a year.
