Piccadilly Cafeteria on Government St. closing after 55 years

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Piccadilly on Government Street is closing. The restaurant has been in the Westmoreland Shopping Center since 1959.

The employees at the Government Street location will be offered jobs at other locations in the area.

Mr. Henry, the man who plays piano during lunch, he is not forgotten. Officials with Piccadilly say they are working on possibly getting him transferred to another location.

Piccadilly emailed this response to WAFB:

"The Piccadilly Restaurant located in Westmoreland Village will be closing on June 29. The location has been open since 1959 and we offer our sincere gratitude to everyone who has made memories there over the past 55 years. Baton Rouge is our hometown and guests can still enjoy their Piccadilly home-style meals at any of our nearby locations on Florida Blvd., Essen Ln., Sherwood Forest Blvd. and Delmont Village. We would also like to thank all of our dedicated team members who have contributed to Westmoreland's long-running operations. Current team members will be offered positions at nearby Piccadilly locations in and around the Baton Rouge area to continue providing our guests quality food and service at affordable prices."
