ANGOLA, LA (WAFB) -

An ex-Angola prison guard is facing 15 years in prison and a $500,000 fine for beating an inmate.

Federal prosecutors said Mark Sharp, 33, of Amite, has pleaded guilty to civil rights violations. Sharp was accused of hitting the inmate with a baton in 2010 and then lying to the FBI about it.

Two other ex-Angola guards, Kevin Groom and Jason Giror, have pleaded guilty to falsifying records and lying to federal investigators.

They have not yet been sentenced.
