Teams advance to quarterfinals of 2014 US Youth Soccer Region III Championships

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Seven Louisiana teams did enough in the preliminary games of the 2014 US Youth Soccer Region III Championships to advance to the quarterfinal round.

A total of 96 teams in 14 pools qualified to move on. One of the host state teams to stay alive in the regionals, Under-17 97 Louisiana Fire Navy, did so with a 2-0 win on Sunday to finish second in its pool.

The other six Louisiana teams to advance are listed below:

BRSC/CSC 96 Alliance (Under-18 Girls)

Mandeville Lakers 95/96 (Under-18 Girls)

BRSC 00 Black (Under-14 Boys)

Louisiana Fire Red 97 (Under-17 Boys)

96 LA Fire Navy (Under-18 Boys)

Crossroads Pride (Under-19 Boys)

Tournament play will continue at the BREC Burbank-Soccer Complex in Baton Rouge on Monday starting at 8:15 a.m. with the Under-14 through Under-16 groups. The last matchups of the day begin at 1:30 p.m.
