LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) -

Lafayette City Deputy Marshals have arrested a man for the aggravated rape of a female under the age of 13.

Deputies arrested Therald Anthony Charles Thursday on a fugitive warrant in the 400 block of St. John Street. His bond was set at $500,000.

Officials say the victim'smother flagged down a deputy marshal at 7:30 this morning and told him she saw the fugitive at St. Joseph's Diner earlier this morning. Deputies went to St. Joseph's Diner and located the fugitive in the kitchen. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

Charles has a criminal record dating back to 2002.
