Investigators: Arson destroys vacant house

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators said they have ruled a fire that destroyed a vacant home early Thursday was the result of arson.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on Ford Street, which is off Plank Road just south of Hooper Road, around 4:30 a.m.

Mark Miles with BRFD said firefighters arriving on the scene reported seeing flames shooting out of the front of the house. He added they said the whole house was engulfed in flames within minutes of their arrival.

According to Miles, the house is considered a total loss. No injuries were reported.
