Ascension Parish school employees will get three percent raises

ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Good news tonight for all Ascension Parish full-time public school employees.

They will be getting a three percent raise. The raise is part of a $219 million budget approved Tuesday night by the school board. It's the first raise for employees since 2008.

The budget also earmarks funds for new laptops or tablets for students as well as millions for building improvements. More than 21,000 students are in Ascension public schools and leaders expect even more students in the Fall.
