SLAUGHTER, LA (WAFB) - A man who served four terms as the Chief of Police in Slaughter, LA has passed away. Charles Ratcliffe Zachary, 81, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at home.
According to his family, he was born in Baton Rouge. He was in the U.S. Air Force, in communications. He retired from Exxon and was known as "Spud" to his plant friends.
He and his wife Joyce were married for 60 years. He had two children, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Slaughter from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume Wednesday, June 18 from 8 a.m. until the time of the service. The service begins at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Plank Road Baptist Church cemetery.
