BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police are investigating a crash that took the life of a 75-year-old woman Sunday afternoon.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Katie Young died as a result of the injuries she suffered in a wreck at the intersection of Florida Boulevard and Flannery Road around 1:15 p.m.

Cpl. Don Coppola Jr. with BRPD said Young was on Flannery crossing Florida when the 2011 Honda CRV she was driving was hit by a 1998 Chevrolet Camaro.

Coppola said Young, the 49-year-old driver of the sports car and his 16-year-old passenger were all taken to the hospital. Young later died from her injuries.

According to investigators, the injuries suffered by the two people in the car did not appear to be life-threatening.

Authorities did not report any charges being filed in the crash

The investigation into the deadly accident is ongoing.
