HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's office has arrested a teenager for theft and marijuana possession and it all started after he allegedly stole a bike from a nearby residence.

Police say 19-year-old Brandon Patrick of Hammond was observed riding a bike that he had just taken from under a carport in the Dunson Park Road trailer park at 4 a.m. Friday morning.

A resident called for the suspect to return the bike. Witnesses say he allegedly stopped, stepped off the bike,  and pointed a handgun toward them. The residents then ran back inside and called police.

Police located the stolen bike at a nearby resident and knocked on the door. The resident gave deputies permission to search the home where they located Patrick hiding in a bedroom closet under a pile of clothes.

Patrick was transported to the Parish Jail and charged with theft, possession of marijuana, possession of a handgun while in possession of marijuana, and for an outstanding warrant for possession with the intention to distribute a controlled substance with a $50,000.00 bond.
