Vehicle fire temporarily shuts down part of I-10 West

LAPLACE, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana State Police reported both lanes of I-10 West were closed for less than 30 minutes near LaPlace due to a vehicle on fire Friday morning.

The lanes were reopened around 8:30 a.m., but traffic remained backed up for a while because of the shutdown.

Drivers trying to get to Baton Rouge from New Orleans ran into long delays and were advised to avoid the area if possible.

It is unknown if there were any injuries in the fire.
