BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - An event that last happened almost 100 years ago will take place again when a full moon appears in the night sky on Friday, June 13.

The Old Farmer's Almanac states June's full moon's name is the "Full Strawberry Moon." It reports the name was given because the Algonquin tribes knew it as a signal to gather ripening fruit.

It is also referred to as the "Honey Moon."

According to universetoday.com, the last time a full moon occurred on a Friday the 13th in the month of June was in 1919.

The Old Farmer's Almanac also stated it is often known as the "Full Rose Moon" in Europe because strawberries are not native to the country.
