BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Crews have suspended the search for a man believed to have taken a canoe across the Mississippi River in an attempt to get home.
The Coast Guard reported it has stopped trying to find Kevin "Rooster" Guy of Port Allen along the river in the Baton Rouge area.
Officials stated they received a report that two people were on the levee around midnight Friday and saw someone in a canoe paddling in the river from Baton Rouge to Port Allen. However, they added it is unknown if Guy was the person seen in the canoe.
Officials said rescue crews spent four hours covering 175 miles of river on Tuesday.
Guy was last seen around 11:30 p.m. Friday after working a concert in East Baton Rouge Parish. He reportedly told a band member that he was going to ride his bike to his canoe, which was docked at the river, and use the canoe to get back home.
The Coast Guard said the search is suspended pending any further developments.
