BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Belle Rose community members and leaders met to discuss solutions to their flooding problem.
The heavy rains, from two weeks ago, flooded homes and caused cemetery graves to rise and float. Leaders proposed a plan to dig a culvert under a railroad track to alleviate flood pressures in the area.
People say with hurricane season here, waiting for the plan was not an option.
"We can't sit around and wait 6 months to see what's going to happen. We need a solution today to figure out what we're going to do tomorrow," said an attendee at the meeting.
The next meeting is scheduled for July 29 at 6:30pm at Belle Rose Primary School.
