In business, people are always looking for a good return on their investments. Many of us wish that our elected officials would think more about return on investment when they're spending our tax dollars.
With that idea in mind, we are happy to commend state and local leaders for the deal that brought the Miss USA pageant to our area this past weekend. The national television broadcast could not have been more positive about Baton Rouge and Louisiana. Pageant officials reportedly claimed the event was worth almost a hundred million dollars in promotion for the Baton Rouge area.
It's hard to say whether that number is accurate, but it's certainly a lot bigger than the publicly disclosed numbers about what tourism officials paid to get them to come here. That seems like a very good return on our investment.
