BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities said 15 people from across the state of Louisiana have been convicted of fraud for illegally receiving benefits from the Department of Children and Family Services.
A fraud and recovery unit within DCFS said the violators received more than $116,000 in ineligible benefits.
Most of those convicted face three to five years of probation, community service and restitution payments to DCFS.
They are from all over the state, including New Roads, Denham Springs, Lafayette and Shreveport.
DCFS encourages anyone who suspects fraud involving SNAP benefits to call 1-888- 524-3578.
