BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Area Chamber says education, crime, small businesses, and tort reform saw the biggest gains during the legislative session which wrapped up earlier this week. BRAC played an active role in the lobbying efforts for those initiatives and they say the economic impact of these changes will serve the nine-parish area very well.
"So going into the session there was no real big theme if you will," says Erin Monroe-Wesley with the chamber. "But coming out of it we know that workforce was a big issue and common core. To be able to win those reforms were very good for us and there's some other wins as well."
Wesley says the education achievements will have a long lasting impact.
