BAYOU CORNE, LA (WAFB) - Residents in the community of Bayou Corne are staying on top of the developments surrounding the 29-acre sinkhole there.
At a meeting Tuesday night, Texas Brine reported gas remains in three areas. A spokesman says the amount of gas has been reduced substantially.
The goal is to have it all removed by the end of the year.
Texas Brine says scientists have not detected any seismic activity or growth at the sinkhole site since January.
According to the parish, an estimated 20 families still live in the area.
