BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Department of Health and Hospitals is joining community leaders in the first Well-Ahead Louisiana WellSpot designation.
The program is meant to encourage healthy behaviors and contributions to our state's health and wellness.
Tuesday DHH revealed the first three WellSpot locations: Mestizo, Mid-City Market and AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana. All three are in Baton Rouge.
DHH Secretary Kathy Kliebert says these businesses are setting a great example.
"Well-Ahead Louisiana encourages small voluntary choices that enable better living. Further, Well-Ahead is not just about taking care of ourselves, but helping those around us live healthier lives. WellSpots are places Louisiana residents and consumers can go, knowing when they go there, their wellness is a priority," said Kleibert.
Some of the criteria the business met to be considered a WellSpot include going tobacco free, offering healthy menu items, and worksite wellness plans.
