BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a house in Baton Rouge to catch fire Thursday night and find out who even lives there.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on South 17th Street near Government Street around 10 p.m.
Curt Monte, spokesman for BRFD, said the back porch and kitchen were on fire when firefighters arrived at the scene.
He added the flames had also made their way into the attic.
Monte said the home had heavy heat, smoke and water damage, but firemen were able to keep the fire from spreading to other areas of the house.
He also said no one was home at the time of the fire. It is unknown who lived at the home. Investigators are trying to find out and contact them.
The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
