The future of Baton Rouge was on display at series of open houses this week. The Oregon-based planner, John Fregonese, who developed the 30-year plan called Future BR was there to answer questions. He also talked about plans to streamline Baton's Rouge's building code and the Nicholson Drive Corridor to connect LSU to downtown Baton Rouge.
"There's going to be all kinds of people that will want to use the corridor," Fregonese says. "Everything from people at the State Capitol to downtown to IBM trying to get to LSU. There's the new water campus that's in that area and the new River District that's been proposed with 1700 new housing units. There's a whole bunch of things that are proposed and this is to try to get ahead of the curve before there are transportation issues.
He also showed renderings of Government Street, North Boulevard and Swan Avenue in phases one and two of the plan.
