BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The co-owner of Powerhouse Gym in Baton Rouge was sentenced Thursday to eight months in a halfway house and two years probation and ordered to pay more than $575,000 in restitution.
Ronald Joseph Olah , Jr. 35, of Baton Rouge pled guilty to wire fraud in November. Officials charged him and a codefendant with bank fraud, making false statements to a bank, and wire fraud as part of a scheme to get financing for the gym.
His partner, Matthew Bernard, is already serving time in prison.
Powerhouse Gym and its construction's financial problems have been well documented, including several battles with contractors over a year and half period.
The gym owners advertised a huge, state-of-the-art gym in Baton Rouge to open January 2012.
They opened a small, temporary part of the gym for a few weeks prior being evicted.
