BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Much of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi remain under a flash flood watch and forecasters have now extended it for some areas.
The watch is now scheduled to remain in effect until 7 p.m. on Friday.
The following Louisiana parishes are included in the watch:
East Baton Rouge
St. John the Baptist
West Baton Rouge
The following Mississippi counties also fall within the zone:
Meteorologists said heavy rainfall is expected in many areas through late Friday afternoon as bands of showers and thunderstorms continue to develop. Heavy rainfall amounts of two to four inches in a two to three hour period will be possible where repeat thunderstorms occur.
They added those repeat thunderstorms may result in localized flash flooding.
