DCFS director pleads guilty to fraud, faces 10 years in prison

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) director has pled guilty to theft and faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

The man, Delrice Augustus, 34, was the director of the Bureau of Auditing and Compliance Services for DCFS which was responsible for safeguarding assets against theft and unauthorized use.

He admitted to using his position to defraud DCFS out of $120,000 to $300,000 by using government purchasing cards to buy computers and other electronic devices, appliances, gas, and fund personal travel.

He has resigned his position.

A sentencing date has not been set yet.
