GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - There's still no budget in place for the upcoming fiscal year in Gonzales.
At Tuesday night's City Council meeting, leaders decided not to try and override Mayor Barney Arceneaux's budget veto. Arceneaux exercised that option earlier this month.
Leaders are at odds over cuts to police and fire departments as well as paying $800,000 for an economic growth study.
If there's no budget in place by June 1, the city would have to operate on 50 percent of last year's spending plan.
