LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - An East Baton Rouge Parish inmate who escaped from his job at a Central substation last week has been captured.
Officials with the Sheriff's office say a deputy with the U.S. Marshal's Task Force caught Joseph Pomares at a McDonalds located at Highway 43 and Interstate 12 after a short chase Sunday evening.
Pomares had been in prison since April 5 for unauthorized use of an access card and illegal possession of stolen items. He escaped on May 19.
He was booked into Livingston Parish prison as a fugitive and transported to EBR parish prison Tuesday. He has been charged with simple escape.
