HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - The remains of a woman who has been missing since 2009 were found on May 21, 2014 by several boys who were frog hunting in a wooded area in Hammond, La.
Authorities positively identified the remains as those of Dena Fout. Fout was 45 years old when she went missing. She was last seen outside of her Loranger home around 2 p.m.
The boys who were frog hunting behind their home found a portion of skeletal remains.
Officials with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office say countless hours have gone into investigating Fout's disappearance. They say there were many reports and tips throughout the years that she was still alive.
Detectives confirmed the identity of the remains Monday around 10 a.m.
Currently, detectives are aggressively working to establish a cause and time of death. Speculation not be made at this time as to the unexplained death or disappearance.
