BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The USS Kidd held a special ceremony on Memorial Day that focused on honoring fallen heroes and showing their families appreciation for the sacrifices they have endured.
Names engraved in granite represented the Louisiana men and women who have died for this country.
Those in attendance remembered their loved ones by placing a poppy next their names.
Jan McCurdy, a Gold Star Mother, was the keynote speaker.
Veterans were encouraged to wear something that represents their branch of service, such as their uniform or even a small pin.
