ST. AMANT, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police said a man is dead after a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning.
Tpr. Jared Sandifer with LSP identified the victim as Lawrence Lambert, 48, of Holden.
The wreck happened on LA 22 near LA 937 in St. Amant, which is not far from the Diversion Canal, around 2:45 a.m.
According to Sandifer, the investigation showed the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado that Lambert was driving went off the road in a curve and into a ditch. He said the truck then hit a levee and flipped onto its roof. Troopers reported Lambert died at the scene.
Investigators said excessive speed is believed to have been a factor in the accident. They added it is not yet known if Lambert was impaired, but they reported he was not properly buckled up.
Per standard procedure for deadly crashes, a sample of his blood was sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
The wreck remains under investigation.
