Suspect arrested for his alleged involvement in La Margie Dr. shooting

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man was arrested for his alleged involvement in a shooting that ended another man's life.

Police said Elbert Marshall, 29, died from injuries he sustained in a shooting that occurred on Thursday, May 1st.  It happened at around 2:08 a.m. in the parking lot of La Margie Drive.

According to a probable cause report, 24-year-old Steaphon Harris was allegedly witnessed the shooting. The report revealed that police had later learned that Harris allegedly communicated text messages to several people, saying that he was going to set up the victim to be shot.

The report also disclosed that Harris told an unidentified person, via texts, that his girlfriend was 'going to get some .38 caliber bullets, and he was ready to take care of the victim'.

Harris is facing a charge of Principal to 2nd Degree Murder. He was booked into the EBR Parish Prison.
